Boeing Racks Up More Orders Than Airbus in 2025

(MENAFN) American aerospace manufacturer Boeing has secured 1,173 aircraft orders throughout the previous year, reclaiming the sales crown from European competitor Airbus for the first time since 2018, newly released data confirms—even as delivery numbers lagged behind its transatlantic rival.

The order haul represents a dramatic surge from Boeing's 377 net orders recorded in 2024, ranking as the company's fifth-largest annual performance in its corporate history.

In December alone, Boeing handed over 63 jetliners to airline customers, pushing its yearly delivery count to 600 aircraft—the strongest showing in seven years and a substantial jump from 348 deliveries the prior year.

Though Airbus maintained its delivery advantage with 793 aircraft transferred to customers last year compared to Boeing's totals, the figure falls short of the European planemaker's peak performance of 863 deliveries achieved in 2019. Airbus logged 889 net orders for 2025.

Ongoing engine shortages and supply chain disruptions continue to hamper aircraft handovers across the industry. Delivery timelines carry critical financial implications since airlines remit the bulk of an aircraft's purchase price upon taking possession.

December proved particularly robust for Boeing, with 174 aircraft orders recorded, highlighted by more than one hundred 737 Max jets ordered by Alaska Airlines—a purchase the Seattle-headquartered carrier disclosed the previous week.

On Tuesday morning, Delta Air Lines announced its inaugural order for a wide-body plane: a minimum of 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
